Stunning early 50s silk Hawaiian style shirt. These shirts were sold as souvenirs to US airmen and soldiers stationed or visiting post war Japan during the Korean war. Expertly tailored of scarf weight silk with unique design features. The button placket for instance has handwoven interfacing and is crafted so that the button holes don't pucker nor overly stress the fabric. The pockets are placed with every care. This example is part of a series that included another shirt seen in the included period image. Excellent condition. Large. Fits Chest 44", Armpit to armpit 25" Shoulders 19" Length base of collar to hem 28.5"
