1930s Haute Couture Maggy Rouff Evening Gown

Daring white jersey rayon bias cut dress by designer Maggy Rouff. Halter neckline with characteristic long scarf drape ties. Gathered bust. A chrome zipper at the lower back. Zippers at the time were a novel item and Rouff chose to provacatively use this one decoratively and functionally. There's no covering placket and it's not tucked under the arm out of the way. Two flare panels in the back of the skirt. The previous owner of this dress had numerous Maggy Rouff pieces among Chanel, Molyneaux, Nina Ricci, Jacques Griffe and others. Just an extrordinary 30s design. Very good condition. Minor discoloration and a couple stitches at the base of the zipper. Bust 34-36" Waist 24" Hips 36"
