Midnight Black 1930s Silk Satin Bias Cut Evening Gown. Stunning sexy Thirties piece with amazing construction and trumpet hem. Hook and eye closure middle of the back. The hem wonderful increases dramatically in volume. Most likely French couture. This dress is from the Estate of the Duchess of Leeds. The Duchess shopped privately with Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, Nina Ricci, Jacques Griffe, Maggy Rouff, Marcel Rochas and others. Clothing from her estate is in the collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art ( Schiaparelli) and The Metropolitan Museum of Art ( a Nina Ricci Ensemble in green wool with mink trim- from us via Gallery representation) Excellent vintage condition (with 2 well done repairs, 1 on a strap and the other by the closure).
