Thirties Maggy Rouff Dress

Late 1930s Maggy Rouff Couture Dress. Lightweight jersey knit wool in a very pretty flax yellow. Maggy Rouff became a darling of the fashion world when the likes of Greta Garbo, Pola Negri, and Theda Barra wore her gowns. There is an edgy whimsy to her designs. A previous Maggy Rouff from our collection had a scarf that slid into the dress through the skirt and out through the bust - when tied in a huge bow it created wonderful gathers and folds in the bias cut silk. Her designs often have an interesting drape and this dress is no exception. It has a deep double pleated front. Two hip pockets with buttonhole slits (the buttons are missing), Self belt. The shoulder and sleeve are one with tiny flattering gathers letting into the bust. Glove length sleeves with cuffs. Lovely condition with no stains or odors, 2 extremely minor moth nips, and a little wear on the self belt. Bust 34", Waist 24", Shoulder to waist 17", Waist to hem 28". Slightly flared skirt. #11520
